FlyRank — General AI Fluency Intern

From July to August 2026, I worked as a General AI Fluency Intern at FlyRank, applying AI tools to real aviation dispatch tasks under a structured weekly assignment series. The work was deliberately hands-on: each assignment produced a working artifact, not a slide about AI.

Proof at a glance: 6-version prompt iteration ladder documented step by step · 5 real dispatch test cases evaluated · 3 live MCP tool calls demonstrated on real files · documented before/after comparison showing measurable improvement in output quality.

Prompt iteration ladder

Six-version LFPG crosswind/convection GO-NO-GO analysis, each version documented.

Weekly automation workflow

Four-stage pipeline tested against five real FAA/EASA sources, with documented time savings.

MCP connector setup

Google Drive connector demonstrated on three tasks a plain chat could not perform.

Sub-project

AI-Powered NOTAM / METAR / TAF Briefing Assistant

The internship's capstone project: an AI assistant (built on Claude) that takes raw NOTAM and METAR/TAF text and produces a structured, severity-tiered operational brief — decoding ICAO abbreviations into plain language and classifying each item as Critical, Moderate, or Informational. The system prompt enforces one non-negotiable rule, drawn directly from aviation safety culture: flag uncertainty rather than guess.

FlyRank Capstone Review — Status: Approved

“Great work turning a focused idea into a concrete prototype. Keep building on the workflow you have documented and checking its outputs against real examples.”

— Reviewer-approved feedback, FlyRank AI Internship (reviewed by Alen Malkoc, Founder & CEO, FlyRank Corp.)

“Great work documenting the aviation-assistant error and how you revised the prompts. Keeping final decisions with the dispatcher and treating this as a learning prototype are important boundaries.”
